Sweet "Bear" is a neutered male, 1  and a half years old, black long haired, about 60lbs and strong. Pulled from a high kill shelter in the Carolina's, his life took a turn for the better when a wonderful SAVE foster stepped in.He was heartworm positive, but thanks to Dr. Glicker at Raintree Vet Hospital he is now heartworm negative and ready to find his forever home. Bear needs to stay on heartgaurd permanetly to keep him heartworm free forever. Bear is young, active and loving. Somewhat like a country bumpkin, he still has alot to learn. Walks well on a long lead and pulls a little on short lead. Gets excited when he sees other dogs, but once you calm him down he meets and greets in a friendly manner. So far he likes everyone, so gentle, he cares for a kitten that weighs less then a pound and at other times he gets very happy and bouncy. He would love a yard and someone top play catch with, once he learns that is what the ball is for. His attitude is similar to a golden retriever, you can step over him or move him out of the way with no objection from him, kittens use him as a launching pad. He loves to sleep in your bed  and cuddle and if you want him down he usually jumps back up like a yo yo. Some patience needed to continue his schooling, don't want to ruff play or he gets alittle ruff, plays a lot with his mouth, nibbles like a pup at times but not destructive, he has a loud bark but does not bark a lot. Bear is still learning things - when he was first tossed a biscuit he did not know what it was. He is not food aggressive but should be watched with other animals when eating, he is fed with 2 other dogs and quite a few cats and the foster watches the cats because they like his food. Bear would be best with older children since he is a big and strong boy. Bear  needs a loving permanent home, with a yard where he will finally find the safe haven and the life he deserves.PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION BEFORE CONTACTING FOSTER
